On the other hand, Zaraće is embraided by its rocky cliffs on the south side of Hvar. Named after a small village, Zaraće offers an array of natural beauties on land as well as underwater.

Hvar’s gastronomy wouldn’t be complete without its central dish called “Peka”. Besides being a cooking method, Peka is an ultimate slow food experience of the Adriatic. It is a traditional Croatian dish prepared by slowly cooking seafood with vegetables under a bell-shaped metal lid covered with hot embers. This method allows the ingredients to cook evenly, creating exceptionally tender textures and rich, natural flavors. It is considered a true Dalmatian specialty, often reserved for long, relaxed meals shared with family or friends.

Those with a special place in their hearts for deserts shouldn’t skip traying the traditional, but simple sweets known as paprenjaci or Pitovska torta. Paprenjaci are a traditional Croatian spiced cookies made with honey, nuts, and a blend of aromatic spices such as pepper, cinnamon, and cloves. They have a rich, slightly spicy flavor and are often associated with festive occasions and heritage baking. On the other hand, Pitovska torta is a traditional cake from the island of Hvar, made primarily with almonds, eggs, sugar, and citrus zest. Pakleni Island
